The project
A hall for the life we share.
We are neighbours working towards a welcoming community hall on London Road. Somewhere to meet, try something new and feel part of Lyme Green, with room for people from Sutton Parish and nearby Macclesfield too.

See how the spaces could come together.
The updated concept brings together a 19.25 × 11.6 m main hall, a meeting room and an activity room and a communal reception (9.25 × 12.75 m shown on the drawing), with a kitchen, office, dedicated storage and a covered entrance. The new floor plan also shows separate accessible and Changing Places WCs, secure green outdoor space and a padel court.
Explore the revised room arrangement in the interactive model. The sketch guides the layout; roof heights, finishes, furnishings and external setting are illustrative. The proposal remains subject to detailed design, approvals and funding.
A growing place needs places to meet.
A neighbourhood is more than the homes within it. Shared spaces help people get to know each other, organise activities and find support. For residents who do not drive, have limited time or need accessible facilities, being able to take part closer to home can make a real difference.
The proposal responds to local consultation and the continuing growth of Lyme Green. It aims to create a practical, flexible building that different groups can use throughout the week, rather than a venue with a single purpose.

Why it matters
A familiar face. A shared interest. A reason to get out.
Community life often starts with something small: saying hello at a toddler group, staying for a chat after a class, or finding someone who shares your interests. A hall gives those moments somewhere to happen.
For a group organiser, it means practical things too: room to store equipment, make refreshments, welcome someone with access needs and set up without a struggle. We want those everyday details to shape the design from the beginning.

An inclusive brief, from the start.
A place where different generations, backgrounds and interests can feel comfortable joining in.
A design process that considers step-free movement, accessible facilities and the needs of people taking part and running activities.
A main hall and smaller spaces that could accommodate different activities, sometimes independently.
These are design priorities, not a claim that the building or its facilities are already approved. Detailed design, access arrangements and operating plans still need to be developed.
Adding capacity. Respecting what already exists.
Nearby halls, churches and community venues already make a valuable contribution. The business plan developed with Cheshire Connect sets out an approach that complements them. When another space is better suited to a group, the intention is to signpost enquiries rather than duplicate provision.
That also means listening to organisations already working with residents. The August update describes discussions with Cheshire East Council departments, Peaks & Plains Housing Trust, Sutton Community Fridge, Cre8 and Wheelies Sport and Activity Club about how the hall could support practical services and inclusive activities.
We are still exploring what could work. As plans develop, we will share which activities and services can become part of the hall.
A charity taking the proposal forward.
Lyme Green Community Hall CIO was registered on 18 March 2025, charity number 1212589. Trustees, volunteers and skill donors are working to develop the proposal and secure the resources needed for each stage.
The proposed site is beside London Road, on land being made available by Vistry Homes as part of the wider development. Land, legal and technical work form part of the project’s preparation.
We will share progress as the work develops, explain what is confirmed and what remains subject to decisions, and keep inviting residents to help shape the hall.
How the idea is taking shape.
Good community projects grow through conversations, practical work and people willing to help. Here are a few of the steps that have brought us here.
- 2024
Listening to neighbours
A resident survey and working-group research helped test the need for a hall, learn from other venues and explore how it could be sustained.
- March 2025
A charity takes shape
Lyme Green Community Hall CIO was registered on 18 March, giving the project a structure for bringing people, skills and support together.
- July 2026
Ideas become a sketch
The early floor plan explored a main hall, smaller rooms and shared facilities. It gives us something practical to discuss and develop.
- August 2026
More voices. More momentum.
The project update brought together further consultation, local generosity and the design, surveys and preparation needed towards planning.
Keep listening. Develop the design. Prepare for planning.
There is still work to do before the hall can be built. We will keep sharing what has moved forward and where your ideas or experience could help.

A little time. A useful skill. A shared ambition.
There are many ways to support the next stage, from professional advice and fundraising to telling us what your group needs.
