Our community

The best part of this place is its people.

Some of us have lived here for years. Others are still getting to know the neighbourhood. A community hall could give us more chances to meet, share what we enjoy and help each other along.

The place we call home

Part of Sutton Parish. Connected to Macclesfield.

Sutton Parish includes Lyme Green, Sutton, Langley and Higher Sutton, with Gurnett also part of its local story. The parish sits south of Macclesfield at the edge of the Peak District, bringing together established settlements, rural landscapes and growing neighbourhoods.

The parish has a history of silk printing and textile finishing. Today, the hall proposal looks ahead: how can people across different parts of the community meet, take part and support each other?

Local context: Sutton Parish Council.

What could happen here?

What would you love to do here?

Creative & social

Art groups, craft sessions, dance, bingo and opportunities to meet neighbours over a cup of tea.

Family & learning

Toddler groups, first aid training, workshops and practical learning across generations.

Wellbeing & inclusion

Exercise, wheelchair sports, health hubs and specialist advice delivered by appropriate local organisations.

Residents have also suggested farmers markets and PCSO surgeries. These are ideas gathered through consultation, not advertised services or confirmed future bookings. Feasibility, demand, affordability and suitable delivery partners will shape what becomes possible.

Help shape the hall

Tell us about your everyday.

You do not need to arrive with a finished proposal. Tell us about something you would enjoy, a group that needs a home, or a practical problem that makes it hard to join in.

  • What would bring you through the door?
  • Would you come on your own, with family or with a group?
  • What would make you feel comfortable and welcome?
  • Are there times, costs or access needs we should understand?

Those details help turn a broad ambition into a place that works for real people.

Your voice matters

What would make the hall work for you?

Tell us about the activities you would attend, the size of room your group needs, access requirements, storage, timings or anything that makes participation difficult. Practical details are especially helpful when turning an ambition into a workable brief.

If you already run a local group or venue, we would like to understand how a new hall could complement your work. Email contact@lymegreen.org.uk.
